Dr. Lowenstein Receives Top Doctor Award…Again

It’s with great pleasure that we announce the bestowment of Jersey’s Best magazine’s 2020 Top Doctor Award on one of our co-founders at The Advanced Spine Center: Dr. Jason E. Lowenstein.

Jersey’s Best magazine partners with Castle Connolly to compile a list of local Top Doctors based on the input of fellow physicians and medical professionals across the nation. Accordingly, the Top Doctors list includes general practitioners as well as specialty doctors who are highly regarded by peers for their excellence in medicine.

The 2020 votes are in and have been tallied! Dr. Lowenstein has earned his Top Doctor status again for the 5th year running.

Dr. Lowenstein is no stranger to the Top Doctor award. In fact, he has received the award regularly from Jersey’s Best and Castle Connolly since 2015.

About Jersey’s Best Top Doctor Award

For 25 years and counting, Castle Connolly has asked thousands of doctors nationwide to address the question, “If your loved one needed medical attention, then who would you recommend?”

After all, doctors are a great resource for recommendations. They know the field, work alongside fellow doctors, and possess unique information and industry insights.

Doctors and other esteemed medical professionals respond to an annual Castle Connolly questionnaire confidentially and anonymously. Specifically, this respondent pool includes medical doctors (MDs) and doctors of osteopathy (DOs). Furthermore, each eligible ballot has a unique access code to the nomination websites. In turn, this ensures that the doctors in question cannot cheat the system by nominating themselves.

The nomination process is just the beginning. Then, the real investigation begins. The Castle Connolly research team carefully looks at each nominee, assessing:

  • Current and valid board certifications
  • Medical education and training
  • Professional achievements
  • Administrative posts and/or hospital staff appointments
  • History of discipline or malpractice
  • Data on procedures, outcomes, and other metrics

Also, interpersonal skills—like empathy and communication—are evaluated. (After all, technical skills are important, but compassion and trustworthiness truly make a doctor stand out.)

If a doctor is deemed worthy after the rigorous review (you can read more about the process here),  then he or she submits a thorough professional biography. Then, the final decision is made.

The Results are in…

In this case, Dr. Lowenstein was awarded a Top Doctor—for the 5th year in a row. He was given this award in the discipline of orthopedic surgery, which includes spine surgery, scoliosis correction, minimally invasive spinal surgery, and more.

As previously mentioned, Jersey’s Best magazine partners with Castle Connolly to highlight the best doctors in our state. Jersey’s Best then reviews the Castle Connolly list and publishes the local Top Doctor recipients. This, of course, makes it easier to find a high-quality doctor near you.

As you probably know, there are several ways to find a doctor. The Castle Connolly list is often regarded as the most legitimate way to recognize excellence in American Medicine. It’s definitely worth checking out the Castle Connolly list if you’re looking for a new physician or specialty doctor.
